Death is a ‘certainty’ for every living human being, male and female.
What we…do not know…is ‘when’ will ‘my’ death occur?
Recently I did a video titled: “Halloween, Skeletons, Death and Judgment.” ( see… Donald Andre Bruneau , on Vimeo )
In this video I made a reference to ‘Dr. Gloria Polo’, (and Priest, Fr. Steven Scheier) a dentist who died after being struck by lightning. She later wrote a book titled: “Struck by Lightning; Death, Judgment and Conversion.”
After I sent a copy of my video to several friends, one of them wrote back to me and asked that I write my thoughts and opinions on the Testimony of Dr. Gloria Polo.
I have now finished reading her testimony for the third time. I have read many books in my lifetime.
This book is one of the most important ones. I think everyone, whether they be Catholic, Protestant, Atheist, etc should read her book.
Especially today, as we have so many ‘Cafeteria Catholics’, those Catholics who ‘pick and choose’ their Catholism, make up their own set of Ten Commandments.
This is extremely dangerous. Today, in most Catholic churches, we are presented ‘God’ as a very loving God and you know…everybody goes to Heaven!
Hell they say does not exist, etc.
Nothing could be further from the Truth!
If you read the Bible and the teachings of the Catholic Cathechism, you will know the Truth about the four last things: “Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell.”
You will also learn that our God is ‘Holy’!
“Because it is written: You shall be Holy for I am Holy.” I Peter 1:16
In 1979 when I received the ‘Baptism in the Holy Spirit’, I received the great gift of ‘the fear of the Lord’. That day I learned, as the Holy Spirit spoke to me, that God is my ‘Creator’ and ‘Lord’, my God and I his ‘creature’. And not the other way around!
Soon after this awesome soul shaking experience, I prayed to our Heavenly Father and said: “Yes, You are the Boss, a loving Father, a Holy Father. I will strive to be Holy as You are Holy. Please reveal your Love to me as deeply as I have discovered the ‘fear of the Lord’.
Ever since then, God has been showing me His awesome Love in our ‘Crucified Lord Jesus’.
I have shared a bit of my personal testimony with you so that you can understand where I am coming from spiritually, as I share my thoughts and reflections about Gloria Polo’s experience. Dr. Gloria Polo’s testimony is a goldmine of spiritual wisdom for anyone who desires to live a Holy life and be well prepared to meet Jesus on their Personal Day of Judgment.
The constant thread that runs through her testimony is about…SIN.
When I think of the seriousness of Sin, I think of the words of a great saint…St. Maximiliam Kolbe.
When he was asked by one of his friars if he feared death, he answered: “I do not fear death. I fear to sin”
St. Maximiliam knew that one unrepented sin can take a soul to Hell.
When Gloria Polo argued with Jesus that she had been a ‘good Catholic’, Jesus dealt with her by showing her how she had sinned by breaking most of the Ten Commandments.
Dr. Polo had a very skewed and irresponsible attitude towards ‘sin’.
It is during her judgment that she learned how serious sin is in God’s eyes.
And in her Testimony, she passes this precious knowledge about sin unto us, unto those who hunger for Truth and Holyness.
Another of the great things I noticed in her testimony is the ‘power of prayer’ by a total stranger, who cared for Gloria’s ‘condition’ (after she was all burnt by the lightning). This poor, humble farmer ‘cried out to God’ on her behalf. Because of his heartfelt prayer, St. Michael, the Archangel was sent to ‘stop’ Gloria’s descent into the mouth of Hell!
Afterwards, Jesus gave her a 2nd chance, along with the mission to return to earth and speak of her experience one thousand times a thousand times, as a ‘warning’ to the people of the world, before she dies again!
So my friends, when you see someone, friend or stranger, in the mire of sin or suffering, please say a ‘heartfelt prayer’ for them.
Your prayer, like the farmer’s , could bring healing to them, bring salvation to their soul!
The other thing that stands out in her testimony is the importance of the Seven Sacraments: i.e.Holy Eucharist, Holy Orders, Confession, Marriage, etc.
These Sacraments are a great gift from a loving God, to help us live a Holy life and get to Heaven.
These Seven Sacraments are only found in the ‘One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic’ Church.
An other element that is so touching in Dr. Polo’s testimony is the *miracles that God performed in her life after she came back to life.
God is so kind and generous to everyone who earnestly turns to Him with deep repentance.
So the most crucial question we should ask ourselves is: “Who am I serving? The father of lies, the devil, or, our Crucified Lord Jesus, who died for each of us so we may have eternal life in Heaven. (C.F: John 3;16)
Like Dr. Gloria Polo, one day, each one of us will have our Personal Day of Judgment. Let us be wise and listen to what Gloria Polo shares, what she learned from Jesus, on her Day of Judgment.
I pray for you, dear reader, please pray for me a sinner.
